The drip edge is a band that is fastened around the outer circumference of the circular yurt platform and extends 1″ above the interior floor surface. The yurt drip edge allows water shed by the yurt’s side cover to drip down to the ground instead of getting into the platform framing materials. It is often made from strips of exterior plywood siding that are at least 8″ tall and 3/8″ – 1/2″ thick, but can also be made from cement-fiber siding or plastic composites.
